Anytime a horse falls ill or is injured, it can be incredibly stressful for both the horse and the owners. Although we do our best to provide on-site veterinary care to all of our patients, more advanced care in a hospital environment is sometimes necessary. Horses usually need to be hospitalized in the event of health emergencies, injuries, or serious medical conditions. Our veterinarians at Advanced Equine are able to offer hospitalization to our patients when they need it most. We have excellent relationships with multiple universities and private referral practices throughout the Hudson Valley and North Eastern United States.
Hospital Care Services Available for Our Patients
Hospitalization, Critical Care, and Surgery
With access to state-of-the-art equine hospital facilities at New England Equine Practice, our veterinarians are able to provide critical care services to all of our patients when they need it most. While in the hospital, we are able to implement the most aggressive treatment and diagnostic plans and have access to continuous 24/7 monitoring, specialist consultation, critical care, and advanced surgery. A special, environmentally controlled isolation ward is available for horses that cannot have contact with other horses, animals, or people.
Advanced Diagnostics
Hospitalization allows for thorough and accurate diagnostic testing on-site, combined with safe and effective treatments. Diagnostic tests available to hospitalized patients include ultrasound (sonograms), cerebral spinal fluid sampling, neurological evaluations, blood tests, urinalyses, fecal exams, x-rays, endoscopy (gastroscopy, respiratory, urinary), and nuclear scintigraphy (bone scan), Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans.
Expert Guidance
Our veterinarians will discuss all of the treatment options available for your horse with you and remain in contact throughout your horse’s treatment and stay in the hospital. We will notify you of any significant changes as they occur, stay in touch regarding your horse’s progress, and be available to answer your questions.
